Description
Seaweed packaging paper combines seaweed fibres with a paper material for packaging and print development. The existing formulation information lists more than 50% seaweed fibres and a natural surface with visible flecks. This is a sheet material, not a raw-seaweed supply.
Ocean Material supports material selection, specification alignment and sample evaluation, and coordinates sourcing for the intended application. Technical data sheets, detailed specifications and supporting documentation are available on request.
Specifications
Seaweed-containing paper in sheet form, Natural colour. The existing formulation lists more than 50% seaweed fibres; the final composition, sheet specification and use requirements are confirmed for the project.
Technical data sheets, detailed specifications and supporting documentation are available on request.
Applications
Development opportunities include packaging, stationery, print, labels and tags. Food and beverage applications require assessment of the finished paper and intended contact conditions; no general food-contact approval is implied.
Origin
Countries and regions of origin: India. This product uses seaweed-derived feedstock in a formulated material. The seaweed species, cultivation source and formulation-specific supply documentation are clarified on request; no unconfirmed species is assigned.
Sustainability & Impact
Seaweed grown in the sea is renewable marine biomass. Its marine cultivation does not require agricultural arable land or freshwater irrigation for growth. These statements concern cultivation and the seaweed portion only, not water or land use throughout processing or every ingredient of a blended material.
Bio-based content, biodegradability, compostability, water solubility, edibility and food-contact suitability are separate characteristics. Each requires evidence for the selected formulation and intended use or disposal conditions.
Quality & Traceability
Ocean Material helps define the formulation, substrate or processing requirements and coordinate sample enquiries and available technical documentation. Assess performance and any food-contact or end-of-life claim for the finished material; properties of another seaweed product are not transferable.
Compliance: REACH information is available on request for review against the intended material and market. REACH is a regulatory framework, not a product certificate.
Carbon Footprint & LCA
Life cycle assessments (LCAs) are available for selected materials and production sites within our partner network. Availability and scope vary by material grade, production location and supply chain.

FAQ
Why use seaweed as a material feedstock?
It offers renewable marine biomass for formulation and material development. Benefits of the selected finished material still require assessment.
Does growing seaweed require freshwater or farmland?
Sea-grown algae do not need freshwater irrigation or agricultural arable land for growth. Processing and other formulation components can still use water and land resources.
What can this material be used for?
Development opportunities include packaging, stationery, print, labels and tags. Food and beverage applications require assessment of the finished paper and intended contact conditions; no general food-contact approval is implied.
Is this raw seaweed?
No. It is a formulated paper material.
Can I request samples and technical information?
You can submit an R&D enquiry. The material is not commercially available and sample availability, quantities and timing remain TBC.
