Description

Recycled polypropylene yarn from end-of-life fishing ropes is offered in the confirmed 30–100D linear-density range for weaving, knitting and technical-textile projects. This article is finished yarn, distinct from pellet feedstock sold for yarn production.

Ocean Material helps match yarn specification, construction and application requirements, coordinates sample enquiries and reviews the available sourcing documentation. Technical data sheets, detailed specifications and supporting documentation are available on request.

Specifications

Material: recycled polypropylene (PP / Olefin). Form: Yarn. Linear density: 30–100D. Other construction, filament-count and lustre options are confirmed for the selected specification and are not implied for every yarn in this range.

Technical data sheets, detailed specifications and supporting documentation are available on request.

Applications

Weaving, knitting and technical-textile applications. Specify the intended construction and end use so the yarn can be selected and sampled against your processing and fabric requirements.

Origin

Countries of origin: China, Taiwan. The PP feedstock comes from end-of-life fishing ropes. These ropes have been used in fishing, reached the end of their useful life, and are collected for recycling. This is post-consumer feedstock rather than manufacturing scrap; it does not imply that the material consists of lost ghost gear recovered from the ocean.

Sustainability & Impact

Recycling used fishing ropes gives the polymer a further material use after its working life in fisheries. The recovered feedstock must still meet the selected application's specification. This source description is distinct from ocean-bound plastic and does not establish a quantified environmental saving.

Quality & Traceability

Ocean Material coordinates yarn selection, sampling and the review of relevant origin and technical documentation. Historic combined-listing or variant certificates do not establish certification coverage across the entire current yarn range. Request the documents for your chosen specification.

Carbon Footprint & LCA

Life cycle assessments (LCAs) are available for selected materials and production sites within our partner network. Availability and scope vary by material grade, production location and supply chain.

Looking to assess the carbon footprint of your material choice? Tell us about your application, performance requirements and sourcing needs. We will review the available environmental data with our partners and help identify suitable material options for your project.

FAQ

What are end-of-life fishing ropes?

Fishing ropes that have reached the end of their useful working life and are collected for recycling. They are not automatically lost or abandoned ghost gear.

What does post-consumer mean here?

The ropes were used in fishing before recovery. This describes the feedstock history, not a guarantee that every component of the final material is recycled.

Which yarn range is offered?

30–100D. Construction and appearance options are agreed for the selected yarn.

Is this yarn or pellet feedstock?

Finished yarn. The separate Yarn Grade pellet products are feedstock for yarn manufacture.

Which colours or grades are offered?

30–100D; finished yarn, not pellets

How can I request samples and technical documents?

Technical data sheets, detailed specifications and supporting documentation are available on request. Use the material inquiry button with your application, specification, quantity and delivery destination. Sampling conditions are set out in Ordering & Lead Time.
